How I got started in the social media game.

I came on the social media management scene right at the beginning of 2020. At the time I was a provider at a dental office and they approached me about getting the office established on social media. As the resident social media girly & millennial on the team, I happily obliged and said I'd do my best!

Here's the thing about my journey - I remember a time without social media, but I also remember the early days of MySpace's savage Top 8 (yeah, we legit used to rank out friends), Facebook's and AIMS cryptic emo lyric status updates, and I even remember when Instagram was all highly filtered selfies and food pictures. You truly had to be there LOL.

I stayed on as a provider at the dental office but dedicated a good portion of my weeks to learning just about everything I could about social media marketing, branding, analytic tracking, and creating content that connected with our existing and potential patients.

My strategy was simple: position the office as approachable, knowledgable, relatable but still unique in how we did the things we did. I invested in courses with industry experts, design software, books/blogs, and even gathered certifications to truly dive into the world of social media marketing and management. Long story short? I became FASCINATED with branding, marketing, and how businesses can utilize these tools to truly showcase their talents, team, products, and offers.

And then...the world shut down.

In March 2020, my clinical position was deemed nonessential and I was sent home for a couple of months without the ability to create in-office content like I had planned to do.

This caused a pivot in our strategy but one that was necessary and that gave me so much in return. I had to get creative with strategy, content, and still maintain our online presence. We took the pivot, stayed active on platforms, and came out on the other side without taking a break on socials.

From there, I took on two businesses for general social media management and renewed their online presence and reach.

Aligned SMS was born and I began operating in a very low profile manner for friends and existing clients. I still maintained my clinical position at the dental office and did social media as a "side hustle" of sorts. It would be years before I made it "IG Official" and publicly launched my business (more on that later).

Two more business owner friends approached me to create and post content for them and both of those turned into full platform management opportunities as well.

I loved what I was creating but more importantly I enjoyed providing relief for these business owners and friends. I saw how they could stay in their zone of genius, focus on doing what they love doing, and not have to worry about the social media piece of their businesses. They could do what they loved & I got to do what I loved (win-win)!

Formulating a SOLID strategy.

During my deep-dive into branding, marketing, and creating social content, I began to sift through a lot of the noise from "gurus" and got a feel for what really worked for these businesses I worked with. I found that I enjoyed the art and science behind strategizing, branding, and content creation and refined a system that works well.

I eventually became a resource for friends who were starting businesses or already owned businesses. They started asking my take on trends and new platform features, tips on how to stay consistent on socials, and what they should be doing to stand out.

I developed a strategy that was sustainable, 100% customizable, and scalable to grow with businesses.

Making it IG official.

It wasn't until the end of 2024 when I decided to go "IG Official" and launch a front-facing business.

At the beginning of 2025, I took the leap! I left the safety of my consistent clinical job at the dental office to open up my calendar in order to serve more businesses and brands in their social media and marketing journeys.

I've been passionate about helping small businesses build a strong and intentional online presence. I know firsthand how challenging it can be to juggle the business demands, client work, and the dozens of other tasks that come with owning and running a business.

Social media is often the first thing that gets pushed to the back burner until it becomes a last-minute to-do item that doesn't feel strategic or effective.

Aligned SMS exists to help business owners stay in flow by providing social media relief and effective strategies that drive results for businesses.

My goal is to help you ditch the content chaos by providing strategic content planning, platform management, and branding support that feels aligned with your business goals instead of just another thing on your list.
